Chief Executive Officer
Pere Vallès joined Scytl in March 2004 after spending most of his professional career in the United States. Prior to joining Scytl, he was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of GlobalNet, a NASDAQ publicly-traded telecommunications company headquartered in Chicago. Pere assisted GlobalNet in becoming one of the leading providers of Voice-over-IP in the world and was instrumental in the successful sale of the company to the Titan Corporation, a NYSE defense company.
At GlobalNet, Pere was responsible for designing and executing the strategic plan that led to an increase in revenues from US$ 25 million to over US$ 100 million and brought the company to profitability. Previously, he had worked as Senior Manager for KPMG’s Mergers & Acquisitions group in Los Angeles and Miami providing financial and strategic consulting services to private equity groups and corporations involved in acquisitions in the United States, Latin America and Europe. During his career at KPMG, he actively participated in more than 20 transactions in the telecommunications and technology areas.
Pere has a bachelor degree in Economics and a bachelor degree in Law from the University of Barcelona and a MBA (summa cum laude) from Indiana University.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, and backed by a track record in delivering company growth and customer programs that increase value delivered and customer retention, Neil Weston is driving the optimization of Scytl resources for even higher customer and operational excellence.
Immediately prior to joining Scytl, Neil was Chief Operating Officer for Socialbakers, a leading and fast growing social media analytics start-up. Previous to that, after Adobe’s acquisition of Omniture, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager of EMEA, for Nuance.
As Senior Vice President and General Manager International at Omniture, Neil was responsible for all sales and operations for everything outside of North America. During his 5 year tenure, he grew the company revenue internationally from $0.5M to $110M and was a key team member in taking the company to IPO and through to its sale to Adobe for $1.8B in 2009. At the time, Omniture was the world´s second largest SaaS software company.
Neil served in various positions in Siebel Systems Inc., from its start-up phase with twenty employees in EMEA, serving as Vice President for the U.K. and Northern Europe, where he grew revenues from $0.5M to over $700M through to President EMEA prior to the company being sold to Oracle in 2005 for $5.8B.
Additional executive and managerial experience includes his holding positions such as Vice President Asia Pacific and Japan for Vignette based in Sydney, Managing Director of Australasia at Oracle Corporation and former roles in his earlier career at Data General in EMEA and for Xerox in EMEA and APAC. Neil has also served on the board of eWise Systems, an account aggregation software company, for ten years,
Neil studied Geology at the Australian National University and Computer Science at the University of Technology, Sydney.
CSO and SVP Research & Security
Jordi Puiggalí has headed Scytl’s Research & Development Department since the formation of the company. He has been instrumental in the development of Scytl’s technology and intellectual property, co-authoring numerous international patents on application-level cryptography and e-voting security.
Prior to joining Scytl, Jordi was the Technical Director for PKI and security projects at the IT department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. he has also actively collaborated with the cryptographic research group of the Department of Computer Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona where he co-directed research projects on PKI and applied cryptography.
Jordi is a security expert and has participated as a speaker and lecturer in numerous international conferences on computer security and applied cryptography. He has a bachelor degree in Computer Engineering from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
SVP WW Sales
Jean Souto joined Scytl in November 2007 as Director of Sales for France and the French-speaking countries and is currently Scytl’s VP WW Sales. Jean brings with him over 15 years of sales and marketing experience in the IT sector.
Prior to joining Scytl, Jean worked in France and Luxemburg, and spent most of his professional career at CGBI, a large French publicly-traded IT services firm where he held various senior positions and was a member of its Executive Committee. At CGBI, he was Director of the Insurance & Banking business unit which became the highest growth business unit in the company. Prior to this, Jean worked as Area Manager in Luxemburg and Eastern France which was the most profitable region during the 4 years of Jean’s tenure.
Jean has a bachelor degree in Information Technology with a post-graduate degree in Business Administration.
Silvia Caparrós joins Scytl as Corporate Counsel in 2014, after more than 20 years practicing law. She has advised Scytl, as external lawyer since 2002.
Silvia’ expertise has been focused on corporate, M&A, commercial, copyright and IT&IP law. Prior to joining Scytl, she was partner at Aequitas Abogados Asociados. Before that she was partner at Bufet Albert Sorroca where, as the head of the Mercantile Department, she participated in a large number of acquisitions advising both national and international corporations, including venture capital transactions.
Silvia has been a regular lecturer on copyright law at the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, the University of Barcelona and at ESADE Ramon Llull University, and has written several monographs and articles on such matter.
Her experience brings a global and transversal vision of the legal aspects concerning corporations. This comprehensive overview together with her knowledge of Scytl will aid the company in continuing its worldwide expansion.
Silvia has a bachelor degree in law from the University of Barcelona, a Master in Foreign Commerce and International Law and a post-graduate course in economics from the University of Barcelona. She has also completed the Research Proficiency Degree (MPhil) on the International Law doctoral program at the University of Barcelona and UC Berkeley.
VP Corporate Administration
Ramón Barriga joined Scytl as VP of Finance in March 2004. Prior to joining Scytl, he was a consultant on corporate governance issues for institutional investors and publicly-traded companies at Soler Padró Morrow, a prestigious law firm. Previously, Ramón was Director of Finance and Administration at Asein Ingenieros SL and was actively involved in the international expansion of this Spanish corporation. He has also held numerous accounting and financial positions in the Swiss pharmaceutical company Sandoz Pharma (now Novartis).
Ramón is a lecturer and professor of financial analysis at the Catalan Institute of Technology. He is a European Certified Financial Analyst (CEFA) and has a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Barcelona and a Master in Finance from the Institut d’Estudis Financers (IEF).
Daniel Navas joined Scytl in September 2010 and is currently the VP of Finance. In his current position, he is responsible of the Accounting and Finance departments.
In his previous position at Scytl as Financial Director, Daniel was instrumental in the development of the organizational structure of the Group in North America, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, which included the creation of multiple new subsidiaries and the acquisition of SOE Software and MAXIM Consulting in the United States, and OAK Soluçoes in Brazil.
Prior to joining Scytl, Daniel was a consultant in Deloitte for 5 years, providing audit assurance to several multinational groups, and also participated in several M&A transactions.
He has a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and a Master in Finance from the University of Barcelona (UB).
Gerard Cervello joined Scytl in September 2001 and is currently the VP Pre-Sales. In his current position, he is in charge of a team of professionals responsible for pre-sales, project management, post-sales and special consulting projects. Gerard has extensive experience in the electoral industry, having participated in numerous elections and projects in Europe, Asia and America and having coauthored 12 papers and 3 patents on e-democracy and e-voting.
Prior to Scytl, Gerard was an expert in web and security applications, having worked for an R&D division of Philips in the United States and ISOCO (an artificial intelligence software company) in Spain. He holds a Masters degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Onno van Dommelen
VP Strategic Accounts & Alliances
Onno is a seasoned expert with over 20 years of experience in the IT sector for multinational companies and governments worldwide. He holds wide experience in project management and also has extensive knowledge of software development methods, lifecycles, methodologies as well as software engineering processes, architecture and programming languages.
Before joining in Scytl, Onno was responsible for software development for the Mecalux Robotics division, one of the world’s leading companies in the market of storage solutions. Mr. van Dommelen also has extensive experience in the successful delivery (both calendar and budget) of projects for organizations such as Hewlett Packard, Volvo, British Petroleum, Royal Dutch Army or Hoogovens.
VP Solutions Delivery
Manel joined Scytl in 2013 as VP of Operations in North America and now holds the global role of Vice President Solutions Delivery in Barcelona leveraging his background in the management of critical international projects in multi-cultural environments.
His 12 years’ experience in defining, implementing and continuously improving operational core competencies and processes is driving Scytl´s increased customer success and satisfaction. The best practices and metrics implemented in companies like Ancert and Absisi are ensuring repeatable and predictable daily operations that meet all customer and division requirements.
Manel holds two Masters degrees from the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona (Information Technology and Services Industry Geography) and is currently obtaining his Master of Science in Finance.
Leticia Barcia joined Scytl in 2013, and returns to Spain after spending most of her Marketing career abroad.
Prior to joining Scytl, Leticia has directed international marketing teams in both Fortune 1000 organizations – defining and executing marketing strategies for high growth and market leadership – and startups – implementing international marketing strategies from the start-up phase through to public offering and beyond – in Europe, North America and Asia. She has held senior global Marketing positions in companies such as Voltage Security, Panda Security, Powered Inc (acquired by Dachis Group), Motive Inc. (IPO and quoted on Nasdaq as of in 2005 and then acquired by Alcatel), Computer Associates, JDEdwards and and SAS.
Leticia brings global experience in taking tactical marketing initiatives to the next level of strategic international influence, expansion, visibility and growth. She holds a bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid.
General Manager Asia Pacific
Eric Elbhar joined Scytl as Director of Business Development in May 2008. After successfully leading Scytl´s Business Development team, he will now be the driving force behind the strengthening of Scytl´s strategy in the Asia Pacific Region. Based in Hong Kong Eric will drive an organization that spans a territory comprising almost 3.5 billion citizens, stretching from Pakistan in the west, to China in the east and New Zealand to the south.
Eric has over 15 years of international sales and marketing experience in the technology sector in companies such as CDC Corporation, Ross Systems, Selligent and Cap Gemini. In these companies, he was involved in complex sales processes and in managing the relationships with key partners in countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Morocco, Greece and Latin America.
Eric holds a B.S. degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from ENSEA Cergy Pontoise (France). He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
General Manager Europe
Klaus Thalmann joins Scytl as General Manager Europe. He has spent most of his professional career at global IT companies in senior positions specializing in the Banking Sector. Prior to joining Scytl, he was Managing Director at AGS Global Services, where he was responsible for country management, sales and P&L, and led the transformation of a basic IT services business to a professional services organization doubling its revenues in 3 years. Previously, he worked at Wincor Nixdorf where he managed an international sales division and global account teams taking customers to top ranked accounts worldwide. Prior to this, he hold several sales leadership positions at IBM.
Klaus´ international experience encompasses Europe the US and Latin America and he holds a Bachelor degree in International Business and an MBA specialized in Management Information Systems from Dominican University in Chicago IL.
General Manager North America
Richard Catahan joined Scytl as Project Manager for Canada in 2012, managing the Scytl’s accounts in the Region. Richard has over 25 years of experience in Project Management and Operations in both the public and the private sector. Prior to joining Scytl, he was the Registrar of Canadore College, Chair of CRALO (Committee of Registrars, Admissions & Liaison Officers for Ontario Colleges) and a Strategic Advisor for the First Nations Learning Unit. Richard has been featured in various Computer Magazines worldwide in areas related to ISO Methodologies, ITIL and Service Excellence.
Richard has a Computer Science degree from CDI, Toronto and is a Certified ITSMF from the Council for Service Management Education.
