Research and Development Team

Scytl’s R&D team is formed by leading cryptography and eVoting security academic researchers and industry experts. The department leads the definition of new cryptographic eVoting protocols, the design of new products and improvement of existing ones. The team actively contributes to the eVoting industry research effort through the publication of articles and participating in international conferences. Scytl’s R&D experts advise governments, international institutions and private companies on the implementation of their election modernization and eVoting strategies.

Dr. Joan Borrell-Viader

Dr. Borrell is Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) where he leads the SENDA cryptographic research group.  He is an expert on cryptography specializing in e-voting security with the first PhD thesis on electronic voting security in Europe.  He has co-authored over 25 publications on e-voting security in international journals and participated in multiple workshops on this matter.

Dr. Josep Domingo-Ferrer

Dr. Domingo-Ferrer is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Rovira i Virgili University of Tarragona (URV), where he leads the CRISES cryptography research group. As a leading expert on database privacy and cryptographic protocols, he has authored over 160 research papers and 3 patents. He has received several research awards and has led several projects, some of them with European and U.S. funding. He currently ranks among the world’s top cited 10000 computer scientists.
