Scytls Internet voting solution (Pnyx) has been certified in Austria

Scytl’s Internet voting software was successfully certified by the Austrian Centre for Secure Information Technology (A-Sit) – an independent certification authority appointed by the Federal Ministry of Science and Research to certify the security of the software. After overcoming this rigorous certification process, Scytl is now able to carry out Austria’s first binding Internet elections which will take place in May 2009. The audit took place between December 2008 and March 2009 and consisted in a thorough analysis of the security architecture and source code of the e-voting software, applying the Council of Europe’s e-voting standards and the Austrian laws. The audit also included an evaluation of the software development process based on the common criteria ISO/IEC 15408.
