Scytl’s Head of Research and Development to Present Paper at the International Conference for Electronic Voting

Jordi Puiggalí, Scytl’s CSO and SVP of Research and Development, will present his paper, “Implementing a Public Security Scrutiny of an Online Voting System: The Swiss Experience,” at the fourth International Conference on Electronic Voting (E-Vote-ID 2019). The conference will take place October 1 through 4, 2019 in Bregenz, Austria, and not only marks the fourth E-Vote-ID conference, but also the 15th anniversary of the first e-voting conference ever held in Bregenz. The aim of the conference is to bring together e-voting experts across the fields of academia, politics, government, and industry to generate a dialogue around the current state of e-voting in the world.

Puiggalí will present his paper during the track on elections and practical experiences. His research focuses on a recent transparency initiative undergone by Scytl and our Swiss Post partner which involved opening the source code for an online voting solution and allowing hackers and IT specialists to attempt to expose vulnerabilities. Despite the +3,000 registered participants’ best efforts, the hackers did not manage to break into the system during the month long test.
