2013 eGovernance Award

In February 2013, the online voting project implemented by Scytl in the Indian State of Gujarat received the 2013 National award for eGovernance under the category “Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering”. The State of Gujarat, with a population of 50 million people, is the first state in having implemented Internet voting in public elections in India. The first online election under this 5-year project was successfully carried out in September 2010, and since then, the online voting system has been used for Municipal Corporation / Municipality Elections. Sponsored by the Indian Government, the National award for eGovernance is aimed at recognizing and promoting excellence in the implementation of e-Governance initiatives in the country.
