:: Citizen Participation (e-Participation)

The use of information and communication technologies in citizen participation processes, also known as eDemocracy, offers multiple advantages to the citizens as well as to the public administrations.

International institutions such as the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Council of Europe have issued recommendations to foster the implementation of e-democracy in federal, regional and local governments. These recommendations highlight the importance e-democracy to bring governments closer to their citizens and involve citizens in the decision-making processes that directly affect them.

If you want to carry out a citizen consultation taking full advantage of what new technologies have to offer, then Pnyx.government is your solution. It allows the organization of all kinds of electoral processes (elections, referendums, surveys, citizen consultations, etc.) in a simple, secure and reliable manner by means of a simple web browser or a mobile phone.

:: Electoral Processes (Elections)

Electronic voting is regarded by many governments as the next natural step in the evolution of electoral processes. Electronic voting offers many advantages over the conventional paper-based electoral systems, including greater speed and accuracy in the counting process, prevention of involuntary voting errors, better accessibility for people with disabilities, lower costs, support of multiple languages, greater flexibility, etc. Additionally, Internet voting allows voters to cast their votes from any device connected to the Internet (e.g., PC, mobile phone, etc.), which can increase the participation rates in an election.

Because of the potential of electronic voting to improve the current electoral systems, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Council of Europe, have established standards and guidelines on how to implement it in a secure and reliable manner. Scytl collaborated with the Council of Europe in the security and audit standards set in its Recommendation issued in September 2004.

If you want to use the Internet as a voting channel in your next election, we recommend you Pnyx.government, our secure and multi-channel (Internet and mobile phone) electronic voting platform.

Pnyx.DRE ensures the integrity of the votes, voters’ privacy, the auditability of election results, and offers a number of verification mechanisms that enable voters to check the correct casting and recording of their votes. Pnyx.DRE is a cost-effective solution that allows reusing the PCs of the voting terminal after the election for other purposes (schools, libraries, etc.).

Pnyx.VVPAT  by means of a simple Audit Module connected to the DRE and the printer, Pnyx.VVPAT cryptographically protects both the printed paper ballots and the corresponding digital votes after the ballots have been verified and confirmed by the voters. With Pnyx.VVPAT, the integrity of the election results can be guaranteed without having to rely on the correct functioning of the DRE or on the physical handling of the paper ballots.

Additionally, Pnyx.VVPAT provides accessibility to VVPAT solutions for blind and visually impaired voters.
