Scytl's R&D Department is formed by academic researchers and industry experts in the field of cryptography and e-voting security. The R&D Department is responsible for the definition of new cryptographic e-voting protocols, the designing of new products and the improvement of existing ones. The R&D Department also contributes to the e-voting industry research effort by publishing articles and participating in international conferences. Scytl's R&D experts have advised numerous governments, international institutions and private companies on their strategies for implementing e-voting.

Scytl's Scientific Advisory Board is formed by renowned leading experts in the field of cryptography and e-voting security. Since Scytl's formation, the Scientific Advisory Board, along with Scytl's research and development department, has played a critical role in maintaining Scytl's leadership position in the e-voting industry.  The Scientific Advisory Board works closely with Scytl's research and development department in defining the general guidelines of Scytl's research efforts.  The Scientific Advisory Board also keeps Scytl informed of the latest academic developments in security and cryptography.

These research groups collaborate with Scytl on R&D tasks and projects, allowing Scytl to maintain a leadership position in the industry.
