Scytl's R&D Department is formed by academic researchers and industry experts in the field of cryptography and e-voting security. The R&D Department is responsible for the definition of new cryptographic e-voting protocols, the designing of new products and the improvement of existing ones. The R&D Department also contributes to the e-voting industry research effort by publishing articles and participating in international conferences. Scytl's R&D experts have advised numerous governments, international institutions and private companies on their strategies for implementing e-voting.

Mr. Jordi Puiggali has headed Scytl's R&D Department since the formation of the company.  Prior to joining Scytl, Mr. Puiggali was a close collaborator of the e-voting research group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona where Dr. Andreu Riera initiated his research.  At Scytl, Mr. Puiggali has continued this research leading a team of e-voting security experts and co-authoring numerous patents, articles and publications in this field.
