Permission to Speak

 

The "Permission to Speak" feature allows the Presiding Officer or Clerk to identify members requesting to take the podium during a  session and to manage the sequence of speakers. The application can also be linked to the Microphone/PA system software, allowing the Presiding Officer to allocate time to members to speak and to turn on/off the microphone as required.

 

Reports

 

The Report application enables users to search  for information on bills that have been previously voted on. The data can be sorted and filtered in a number of ways using different search criteria. The search results are subsequently presented in a report, which can either be stored or printed.

 

Biometrics and other enhanced security features

 

ID-activated security systems can protect the integrity of the vote casting process. These systems block access to the voting  stations by anyone other than the authorized member. PressVote employs different technologies for this purpose, including Integrated Chip Card readers or Fingerprint readers which properly and securely identify the member and accordingly allow them exclusive access to the voting system.

Microphone/PA Control

 

The Microphone/PA control allows the Presiding  Officer or other assigned individual to manage the podium during debates, allocate time to members to speak and to turn on/off the microphone as required.

 

Chamber Camera Control/Display and Web casting

 

An important feature in increasing transparency of the legislative process towards the public, the Chamber Camera link allows the real-time (live) broadcasting of debates within the chamber over the internet for public view. Once voting is opened, the vote tally screen will replace the live feed so that the public can view the voting outcome as well as  how each individual legislator has voted.

 

Video and Audio Conferencing

 

The Video and Audio Conferencing application allows the legislative chamber to remotely connect on a real-time (live) basis to disparate individuals and locations via the Plasma display. Providing three-dimensional view and crystal-clear sound, this feature allows multi-way communication with remote individuals from directly within the Chamber.
